Douglas A-20 Havoc

light attack bomber

A fast, low-level light bomber, the Havoc flew ground-attack and night-intruder missions from North Africa to Normandy to New Guinea, strafing airfields and columns with a solid nose of forward-firing guns on its attack variants. Some 3,400 of the nearly 7,500 built were sent to the Soviet Union under Lend-Lease, where it was known as the Boston and where more of them served than with the USAAF itself.
