A wooden assault glider towed behind bombers or transports, the Horsa carried the coup-de-main force that seized Pegasus Bridge in the opening minutes of D-Day by landing with pinpoint silence just metres from the objective, and later flew airborne troops into Arnhem during Market Garden.
