CANT Z.1007 Alcione

medium bomber

An all-wood trimotor bomber, the Alcione ('Kingfisher') was faster and more aerodynamically refined than its rival the SM.79, itself a mixed steel-tube, duralumin and plywood design rather than an all-metal one, but harder to build and maintain in the desert heat and humidity. It flew reconnaissance and bombing missions across the Mediterranean, including strikes on Malta convoys.
