The standard Italian infantry rifle since 1891, the Carcano was still in front-line service across every theatre Italy fought in during WWII, chambered in the underpowered 6.5mm Carcano round that many soldiers found lacking in stopping power and range. Decades later a Carcano carbine became infamous as the rifle used to assassinate President John F. Kennedy.
