A fast, heavily armed wooden-hulled coastal attack craft nicknamed the 'Dog Boat', the Fairmile D fought nightly skirmishes against German E-boats in the English Channel and North Sea, screening coastal convoys and later supporting the D-Day landings against E-boat interference.
