The largest Allied glider of the war, big enough to carry a light Tetrarch tank or a Bren carrier straight onto the landing zone, giving airborne forces armoured support that could not otherwise be parachuted in. Tetrarchs delivered by Hamilcar supported the British 6th Airborne Division on D-Day.
