Kawanishi H8K

One of the finest flying boats of the war, the four-engined H8K (codenamed Emily) outperformed the Allied Sunderland and Coronado in speed, range and defensive firepower, flying long-range patrol, bombing and transport missions across the vast Pacific. A pair flew the extraordinary Operation K raid on Pearl Harbor in March 1942, refueling from a submarine en route. Its heavy self-sealing tanks and armor made it a genuinely difficult target to shoot down.
