A development of the British Carden Loyd tankette, the L3/35 was Italy's most numerous armoured fighting vehicle, cheap and mobile but with armour so thin it could be pierced by rifle-calibre ammunition and armament limited to two machine guns. It equipped colonial and metropolitan divisions across East Africa, the Balkans and North Africa long after it was hopelessly obsolete.
