Nakajima B6N Tenzan

carrier torpedo bomber

The Tenzan (Heavenly Mountain), codenamed Jill, was meant to replace the venerable Kate as Japan's standard torpedo bomber, but by the time it reached the fleet in numbers there were few pilots left experienced enough to fly it well and few carriers left to fly it from. It fought its main action at the Philippine Sea in June 1944, a battle American aviators nicknamed the Marianas Turkey Shoot.
