Semovente da 75/18

self-propelled gun

Mounting a short 75mm howitzer on the M13/M14 tank chassis, the Semovente da 75/18 was arguably the best Italian AFV of the war, its low silhouette and useful gun making it an effective tank destroyer at Alamein despite modest official design intent as an infantry-support howitzer. Some served on with the Germans after Italy's 1943 armistice and even in postwar Italian and Syrian service.
