A large class of light cruisers including HMS Belfast and HMS Sheffield, the Town-class fought across every theatre of the naval war, from Arctic convoy escort at the Battle of the North Cape to Mediterranean surface actions and the bombardment of the Normandy beaches. HMS Belfast survives today as a museum ship on the Thames.
