Type 1 Ho-Ni

self-propelled gun

Built on a Type 97 Chi-Ha chassis with the turret removed and replaced by an open-topped casemate, the Ho-Ni mounted a 75mm field gun to give Japanese armored units badly-needed anti-tank and fire-support firepower. Only a couple dozen were ever produced, and they saw their first and nearly only action defending Luzon in early 1945.
