Japan's only submachine gun produced in any real quantity, the Type 100 arrived far later than equivalent Allied weapons and never in enough numbers to significantly arm the infantry. A simplified, easier-to-manufacture folding-stock version was rushed out in 1944 as Japan's arsenals struggled to keep pace with wartime demand.
