Type 4 Ho-Ro

The Type 4 Ho-Ro mounted a 150mm howitzer, based on an old Krupp design, on the chassis of the Type 97 Chi-Ha medium tank, giving Japanese forces a mobile heavy-fire-support option late in the war. Only 12 were completed in 1944, and they saw combat in ones and twos during the Philippines campaign and the Battle of Okinawa, where they were badly outnumbered by American artillery. A single example survives, captured on Luzon and now on display at the American Heritage Museum in Massachusetts.
