Type 96 25 mm AT/AA gun

A licensed copy of a French Hotchkiss design, the Type 96 was the standard light anti-aircraft gun of the Imperial Navy, mounted singly, in twins or in triple clusters across the decks of nearly every Japanese warship. Some 33,000 were built, yet Allied aviators consistently rated it inferior to comparable American and British light AA guns because of its slow-loading fifteen-round magazines and poor high-angle traverse against fast, low-flying aircraft.
