Type 97 automatic cannon

anti-tank rifle

A heavy 20mm semi-automatic anti-tank rifle so large it usually needed a two- or three-man crew and a small wheeled carriage to move, the Type 97 could penetrate light armor early in the war but was already outclassed by the armor on American tanks by 1942. It saw its most notable use with elite paratroop units of the Imperial Army Air Force.
