Yokosuka P1Y Ginga

land-based bomber

The Ginga (Milky Way), codenamed Frances by the Allies, was a fast, capable twin-engine bomber built to strike ships and airfields from land bases across the Pacific. Chronic complexity and reliability problems in the field kept it from ever operating at full effectiveness, and many were expended on kamikaze missions in the closing months of the war.
