An improvised self-propelled 25-pounder mounted in a tall, boxy superstructure on a Valentine chassis, the Bishop was rushed into service for the North African campaign to give artillery some protection and mobility, but its limited elevation and cramped fighting compartment made it an unpopular stopgap soon superseded by the Sexton.
