Gloster Gladiator

biplane fighter

The RAF's last biplane fighter, already obsolescent against the Bf 109 by 1940, but a handful famously nicknamed 'Faith, Hope and Charity' formed Malta's entire air defence in the desperate opening weeks of the siege before Hurricanes arrived. It also fought over Norway and in East Africa.
