Nagato
battleship
As Admiral Yamamoto's flagship, Nagato transmitted the coded signal that launched the Pearl Harbor attack, though she herself stayed in home waters. The only Japanese battleship to survive the war, she was captured largely intact and used as a target ship in the Bikini Atoll atomic bomb tests of 1946, where she finally sank.
