Karl-Gerät
self-propelled siege mortar
Seven of these enormous self-propelled siege mortars were built, six firing 600mm shells weighing over two tonnes to smash reinforced concrete fortifications. Three were used against Sevastopol's fortress ring in June 1942, including strikes on the massive Maxim Gorky coastal battery, though their shells proved less effective against deeply buried works than hoped.
