Schwerer Gustav

The largest-calibre artillery piece ever fielded in combat, this 800mm railway gun required a crew of over 500 and its own anti-aircraft protection to bring into position. It fired around 48 shells into Sevastopol's fortifications in June 1942, including a strike that reportedly detonated a deep underground ammunition magazine, before being moved on and never fully repeating that combat role.
