Surrender at Caserta
29 April 1945 – 2 May 1945
After weeks of secret negotiation in Switzerland, German representatives signed the unconditional surrender of all forces in Italy at the Royal Palace of Caserta. Some 800,000 men of Army Group C laid down their arms when it took effect on 2 May.
The surrender takes effect at 14:00; Army Group C ceases fire.
