DUKW

amphibious cargo truck

The six-wheel-drive amphibious 'Duck' made its combat debut carrying supplies straight from ship to shore over the Sicily beaches in Operation Husky, then supplied the Salerno and Anzio landings. It could swim from a landing ship and drive inland without unloading onto the beach at all.
