Messerschmitt Me 262

The world's first operational jet fighter, the Me 262 was over 150 km/h faster than any Allied piston fighter, but arrived too late and in too few numbers to affect the outcome of the air war over Germany. Hitler's insistence it also serve as a bomber delayed its deployment as an interceptor.
