The Imperial Japanese Army's equivalent of the Zero, called the Oscar by the Allies, was the fighter Flying Tigers and RAF squadrons actually met over Burma and China rather than the Navy's Zero. It shared the Zero's extreme agility and the same fatal lack of armor and self-sealing tanks. More were built than any other Japanese fighter except the Zero itself.
