Type 97 Chi-Ha

medium tank

The most widely produced Japanese medium tank of the war, the Chi-Ha fought from the border clashes with the Soviets at Khalkhin Gol through to the last island battles of 1945. Its original short-barreled 57mm gun was adequate against infantry but hopeless against Allied armor, prompting a late-war upgunned variant, the Shinhoto Chi-Ha, considered the best Japanese tank to see combat.
