Heinkel He 111
medium bomber
A pre-war design already showing its age by 1941, the He 111's distinctive glazed nose and greenhouse cockpit made it instantly recognisable as it bombed Belgrade on the opening day of the Yugoslav invasion and, later, flew supply and bombing missions over the Eastern Front, including doomed resupply sorties to the encircled 6th Army at Stalingrad.
